New Age Salon Owner Amanda Robinson 2

Amanda Robinson, Head Stylist and Owner of NAS, is a gifted hair artist and licensed master barber with 20 years of creative expertise. Her approach to hairstyling shows a strong regard for technique, but also a more tactile and intuitive treatment of hair – an experience of “cutting by feeling” rather than adhering to formulaic methodology. Amanda specializes in the sculpting and shaping of hair through innovative dry cuts, razor cutting, creative color, and strand by strand extensions. She is also a master-tamer of the ever-defiant curly coiff. She combines techniques learned in her formal training (Davines, Difiaba, Hairdreams, Bumble and Bumble, Redken, and Michael O’Rourke of Sexy Hair Concepts) with original treatments developed through imaginative experimentation.

An avid traveler, Amanda has wandered much of the globe, cutting-shears-in-hand. The experience gained during her journeys (from an upscale salon in Finland to renegade haircuts in Berlin warehouses) is a constant source of inspiration and has added a diverse richness and a flair for artistic shape-shifting to her work. Amanda is also a skilled creator of avant-garde runway styles, and has added her artistic touch to fashion shows, hair shows, photo shoots and performances locally, in New York City, Milan and Reykjavik. She continues to grow and learn as a stylist by attending hair shows and seminars across the country, and studying at the Bumble and Bumble Institute in New York.

In the years since Amanda began on her path as an entrepreneur, she and the New Age Salon have garnered an impressive collection of honors and recognition, including Artvoice’s Best Salon award in 2005 (an award for which NAS has been nominated nearly every year since), a young entrepreneur spotlight in Business First, and business features in Artvoice, Buffalo Rising, local Icelandic publications and the Buffalo Spree.

Erin - A New Age Salon Hair DresserBorn in the Virgo Sun Sign, the description of the most feminine zodiac sign, sums me up in the best way. We’re known for attention to detail and seeking beauty in all things. My love for all cultures, traveling and new experiences evolved me to the person I am today.

From a young age, working hard was heavily influenced, so it was no surprise that I developed a strong, yet conservative character, well-organized, but with a touch of practicality in my everyday life. My attention to beauty and wellness always came full force growing up, so when I had the opportunity, I immersed myself into learning the art of hair and beauty, with great motivation and with anybody I can get my hands on! (sorry sis…!)

While in high school I took advantage of the opportunity to join the cosmetology program. The world of beauty always interested me and to be surrounded by like minded people my age seemed like a no-brainer. I mean, what teenager didn’t want a chance to leave mid day at school for a taste of freedom and to be out in the “real world”! Later realizing that not only did I possess a natural talent for the trade but a passion developed along the way. I continued my education with intensive training alongside some of the most talented artists in Buffalo and from brilliant educators from Tony and Guy, Wella, and Goldwell, just to name a few. These tools and extended training helped build my wings of confidence, my own personal style and loyal clientele. In turn, I was able to soar in this career bringing my talents outside of Buffalo all the way to Spain, where I continue to express my artistic passion.

I’m happy to express my true personality and positivity in this ever changing and creative industry. Caring for whom ever sits in my chair, while providing well polished cuts and styles, to rich, vibrant color applications, your experience at The New Age Salon  is just as important as mine.

I’m happy to give my full potential and honest advice, while creating a comfortable atmosphere and of course sprinkling a little beauty along the way!
